Unsettling fixed notions of belonging

This work inhabits the liminal spaces where meaning is continually formed and reformed. Working with materials that do not simply record time but conjure it, the work invites viewers into spaces where ancestral, historical,  cultural, and societal narratives converge. By holding permanence and impermanence in tension, I seek to unsettle fixed notions of belonging.  

Silver gelatin paper, once it slips beyond its expiration, becomes an oracle. It absorbs the touch of hands, the breath of air, the quiet decay of its own body.  When developed, it unveils auguries inscribed in light and shadow— prophecies of memory, chance, and transformation.  

Clay speaks in another tongue. Fired, it becomes immutable, a relic that endures across millennia. Unfired, it remains porous, cyclical, alive, like shells cast for reading, like earth reshaped by ritual. It resists permanence yet offers visions of possibility, dissolution, and return. Across multiple clay bodies, each with its own temperament and memory, hybridity emerges—an alchemy of surfaces and structures that resists singularity.  

Photographic materials, ceramic, unfired clay: each serves as a divining tool, a vessel through which histories surface and selves are revealed. In their interplay, these materials speak together, crossing thresholds of presence and absence, record and revelation, embodying a hybridity that mirrors the layered voices they summon.  Listening to materials as they speak, interpreting their signs, and bearing witness to histories both fragile and enduring.

My practice seeks to open pathways toward a deeper understanding of how the self is shaped by time, place, inheritance, and the will to remember.
